Your Donation Matters

All the donations received by the GNOME Foundation are used to further its charitable mission of advancing free and open source software for the public good. Donations allow us to:

• Distribute development grants to improve GNOME directly
• Sponsor travel grants for volunteers
• Support the development and operation of Flathub, the Free Desktop App Store
• Maintain and improve GNOME’s development infrastructure, including GitLab and build pipelines
• Operate benefit services for members, such as Matrix chat, Nextcloud file storage, and BigBlueButton video conferencing.
• Organize and run developer and community events
• Provide internships for new contributors
• Promote GNOME around the world in governments, universities, corporations, and non-profits

Tax deductions and donation matching

The GNOME Foundation is a 501c(3) non-profit organization registered in the United States. Those in the United States are often able to treat their donations as tax deductible. Some employers also offer donation matching.

Support Beyond Donations

There are a range of additional options for organizations who want to support GNOME. These include events sponsorship, Advisory Board membership, and development grants, to name a few. Whatever your interest and ability, we can work together on a solution to suit you or your organization.
